USFemale full-time wage and salary workers earn 82% of what their male counterparts earn on average, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data from the second quarter of 2021.

When comparing different racial and ethnic demographics, the pay gap has remained relatively constant over the last decade, but it varies even more between women and men.For example, the median weekly earnings of black women (746) are only about 67% of those of white men (1115).However, while white and Asian women’s median weekly earnings (921 and 1037, respectively) are still lower than white men’s, they are higher than Hispanic men’s (825).

Just as race and ethnicity have an impact on pay disparities between men and women, occupation has an impact as well.In this study, SmartAsset looked into which occupations pay women the most and least compared to men.We compared median weekly earnings for men and women for a total of 111 occupations using BLS data from 2021.Check out the Data and Methodology section at the end for more information on our data sources and how we put it all together to come up with our conclusions.
