Despite the fact that Baby Boomers and Generation X are now in charge of many businesses, more than 25% of the workforce is under the age of 30.This means that Generation Z (those born between 1997 and 2012) and millennials (those born between 1981 and 1996) will soon account for the majority of workers.

Starting your career when you’re young gives you more time to save and create a retirement plan with a financial advisor.Some cities provide more opportunities for younger workers to find work, and SmartAsset crunched the numbers to see where younger workers make up the largest percentage of the local workforce.

Lubbock, Texas, is another college town that is home to Texas Tech University.37 percent of the population is between the ages of 16 and 29.This city’s workforce accounts for 79% of the total.However, this cohort’s workforce participation rate is only 66 percent.In our study, 3% came in 80th place out of 100.The large university population, while eligible for the workforce, is largely unemployed during their student tenure, which may explain the low figure for this metric.
